September, 2018 East Greenwich – Destiny Africa Children’s Choir is on a four-month tour of the U.S. visiting schools, libraries, churches and community centers. Their mission is to share their heartfelt experience of joy and hope through the culture and music of Uganda. They are also hoping to raise funds to support an expansion project for their home and school, the Kampala Children’s Centre.  There will be a benefit concert this Saturday evening, 6:00-7:30 at the East Greenwich United Methodist Church.

The students at five schools in East Greenwich were able to sing and dance with the choir during their performances in the schools these past two weeks. One performance was held at the Greenwich Odeum Theater, who kindly opened their doors for Eldredge Elementary since the school gym (where assemblies would normally be held) was still under construction. It was a clear sunny day for the teachers, students, PTG volunteers and School Resource Officers to take a stroll down to Main Street to visit the theater – and what a treat for those students to see this gem of a theater!
